After undergoing a very difficult situation, David April began to search for positive ways to heal himself. Running was his medicine, and it eventually grew into a community where people support and encourage the success of others. There is no judgment, only complete acceptance. As David says before every run, “Get to the bar, no questions asked.” It’s all about setting your own goals, whether it’s to just get off the couch and move, drop some pounds, meet new people, or run a marathon. The group is also dedicated to community service projects, volunteering for charity events, and raising money for non-profit organizations. The movement has even grown to the point where the Spanish Brewers Association launched a major campaign based on the Fishtown Beer Runners, involving beer runs all over Spain.
